Saw Tooth Coriander
I love the fresh and strong aroma from the saw tooth coriander. I normally use this in all my curries (vegetarian and non vegetarian) and to make chutney and also Rasam (India soup). This is also widely used in soups, salads and salsa.
Simply delicious and aromatic and did I say healthy ………
The saw tooth coriander is also known as Saw Leaf Herb or Mexican Coriander in English as it is widely used in the Mexican dishes, Ketumbar Jawa in Malay and Malli Eelai in Tamil. Not sure the native country of these plant, however it is mostly used in the Southeast Asia region. The ‘saw tooth’ name should have been derived from the sharp edges at the side of the leaf. However, I personally think the saw tooth coriander does not have any similarities to the coriander leaf in it’s look and it definitely have a stronger aroma and flavor.

The leave grows from the top of the soil and there are no stem. After the plant mature, flowers are developed and later turn into seeds. This is another herb that grows easily without much hassle. Need good water drainage and lots of sunshine. This plant multiplies and spreads fast with the help of the matured seeds falling from the plant, so all you need is plant 1 in the garden with the roots and with few leaves and in about 3 months you’ll have so many plants that you’d be able to supply to your neighbors.
I was told that this green herb is good for reducing bad cholesterol and also the sugar level and also gastric; however there is no medical research evidence on this.
