My Garden in Malaysia, GREENLANDHOME
Welcome to my garden in Malaysia, which I call Greenlandhome. Malaysia essentially observes tropical weather, which is hot and humid with the humidity ranging from 80 - 90 percent, except in the highlands. The climate is moderately hot and extremely sultry. Throughout the year, the temperature ranges from 20°C to 30°C on an average. With this kind of climate, agriculture or gardening (in a smaller scale) is never too difficult…….
How I got interested in gardening???? I am not sure, it all just happened suddenly. Like falling in love…..I just followed my heart and before I realize, I have planted okra, eggplant, tomato, curry leave and lemon grass and etc. Hubby was very kind in helping me to pursue my new found love. He is my motivator in developing the garden and also this blog. My two little dotting daughters would tag along and they are always ready to help and they are always curious and have tons of questions, How can the seed grow into a tree?, Why the okra flower is yellow? And the list goes on. I learn together with them about the plants and gardening.
I am not a green thumb, but I have learned and have experimented many ways. . I can’t relate the immense satisfaction and sense of accomplishment watching a plant grow and bloom and equally sadden to see one wither and die. But, like what I said, all this are learning. . Problems with insects or spots on leaves provide the opportunity to find out the cause and understand how to keep plants healthy. The fellow bloggers and gardeners that I have come acquainted in the net are always very helpful in providing their input and advice regarding my doubts and concerns. Experience has thought me that as long as I am enthusiastic, observant and willing to work, Mother Earth will ensure good result.
Many think that gardening is an expensive hobby to pursue. This is not necessarily true. You can also cultivate this interest without spending much $$. Apart from that you can be rest assured that the food you and your family consuming are safe and fresh with fantastic flavor without the use of the overdose chemicals. You’ll also have an opportunity to share the garden in harmony with the birds, bees, butterflies and other small wildlife. Of course there are other pests that are best to be kept in bay, without much violence.
In this blog, I’ll take you for a tour and you can have a closer look at some of these Asian vegetables, fruit trees and also some flower plants that I have planted. You will also be amazed to know the nutrition value of these many unfamiliar vegetables, especially the Asian vegetables that you have seen in the supermarket. I have also included links of some interesting ways these vegetables can be cooked, where you and your family can enjoy the taste of these assortment produce.
Let’s learn and Let’s go Green.
